Another week, another Business Daily infrastructure read.

This week’s I Read It So That You Don’t Have To looks at three separate infrastructure questions shaping Kenya’s project-development conversation.
First, the proposed KSh 2.1 trillion Dangote East Africa Petroleum Refinery in Lamu. The project reflects major regional ambition, but also raises an equally important question about the local communities that host mega-projects.

Second, Kenya’s energy pipeline is facing a financing shift, with several projects expected to transition towards the National Infrastructure Fund. Innovation in infrastructure financing matters, but so does continuity for projects already in the pipeline.
Third, counties reportedly ended the financial year with significant funds unspent while several development projects remained stalled. A budget allocation is not, by itself, an infrastructure outcome.
